Saxon Math is one of the nation’s most thoroughly researched core mathematics programs for grades K–12. Saxon’s unique pedagogical approach-based on instruction, practice, and assessment distributed across grade levels-incorporates more than 25 years of research and classroom experience.
Because GWA teaches math a year ahead, some students will require additional support if they struggle with math or have transferred to GWA mid-year or in a higher grade. The ‘Reteachings’ below are available for GWA’s math courses from 2nd grade up, and cover the most important new concepts taught in each lesson. They are great for summer review or to preview the next year’s course.
Parents are encouraged to buy the grade level companion books by E.D. Hirsch for Grades 1-6. For example, “What Your 5th Grader Needs to Know,” by E.D. Hirsch. These are available at www.amazon.com, at Barnes and Noble, and many other locations. The books go along with classroom teachings and help reinforce what students are learning at school.
